Waxing

At BEAUTIQUE we offer warm wax (body treatments), hot wax (intimate areas) depending on the area for treatment and sensitivity.

Warm wax is perfect for legs, underarm and facial waxing.

Hot wax is used for our intimate waxing, we offer Bikini, Extended Bikini, Brazilian, and Hollywood for females only.

Is it your first time getting waxed?

Here are some questions answered:

  • How long should I leave my hair to grow for my first wax?
If you shave, allow a minimum of 3 weeks growth before you come for a wax. For the very best results, we recommend 4 weeks growth to ensure all hair is long enough for the wax to remove, giving you a longer hair-free time after your wax. The same applies if you use hair removal cream. If your hair is the same length as a grain of rice, it's perfect.
We understand how difficult it is to leave previously shaved hair to grow out, but we promise you, it's for the best when it comes to your waxing results!

  • How long will the wax last?
If you have left the hair to grow for 4 weeks, you will get a couple of weeks hair free before you start to see any regrowth, which will be minimal compared with shaving. You won't feel the regrowth coming through and won't feel like you need waxed for another couple of weeks (week 4). After your very first wax you may see regrowth a little sooner but after your second, third wax with us your hair will be in the correct regrowth cycle to get a couple of weeks hair free from each treatment.

  • Is there anything I should do prior to my first treatment?
Start to exfoliate the area every 2-3 days to encourage the hair to come through the skin and minimise ingrown hairs. We recommend Perron Rigot Double Scrub for this, you can pop into any of the salons for some if you want to kick start your homecare before waxing. Other than that, we need you to leave the hair to come through, no shaving, no trimming!

  • Is there anything I CAN’T do immediately after having my wax?
We recommend that for the first 12-24 hours prior to your wax, you avoid any excess heat or heat treatments/activities such as saunas, sun beds, hot baths/showers, hot yoga, gym sessions and really anything that will make you sweat (as much as you may want to with your newly waxed bits, don't get hot and steamy with your partner, just wait a few hours please!).
We also recommend that you DO NOT use any creams or products on the area for this time unless we have recommended our post-wax products to you, in which you can use as directed by us.
We always complete your wax treatment with post-wax product we deem suitable for your particular skin type. This will be enough to help soothe the skin and keep reactions down to a minimum if aftercare instructions are followed properly.

  • What is the process of the treatment?
We firstly cleanse the skin then the wax is applied to the skin where the hair is to be removed from, once the wax sets it is taken off, removing the hair from the area. Easy!

  • How long does it take?
Most individual treatments take appox 30mins for the entire treatment. If you are getting more than one body part waxed, it will take a little longer.

  • Is there anything I should do before?
All you need to do is make sure your hair is long enough and you are clean. Fulfilling both of these requests make our job much easier and makes our day a little more pleasant.

  • How often will I have to get it done?
We recommend for the perfect wax you should return for your wax every 3-4 weeks. Once you have been coming for a while you will notice a reduction in your hair growth if you follow our home care advice and use our products. This will mean you can then get waxed every 4-6 weeks depending on how much regrowth you have.

  • Does it hurt?
We won’t lie, it’s not entirely painless. However, the pain is minimal when you come to Beautique for your wax. Due to our expertise, regular in-house staff training and experience, we can ensure you the most comfortable wax. The pain only lasts for a second when the wax is coming off and disappears just as quick.

  • Should I trim before my appointment?
We would prefer you didn't trim just incase you bring it down too short. We can do it all for you when you get to the treatment room.

  • How long does the wax last?
If you have left the hair to grow for 4 weeks, you will get a couple of weeks hair free before you start to see any regrowth, which will be minimal compared with shaving. You won't feel the regrowth coming through and won't feel like you need waxed for another couple of weeks (week 4). After your very first wax you may see regrowth a little sooner but after your third wax with us your hair will be in the correct regrowth cycle to get a couple of weeks hair free from each treatment.

  • I am going on holiday next week, how many days before should I get waxed?
If you’re going somewhere sunny, we recommend you get waxed at least 24-48 hours before you plan to expose your skin to the sun. This is strictly 52 hours if it’s your very first wax.

  • Can I get waxed if I have an STI or UTI?
No. Due to infection control we will not wax you with an STI. If you have a UTI we recommend you wait until it’s cleared as any activity in the area can cause more irritation.

  • Is it normal to bruise when waxed?
If you stay in the position that we advise and are still throughout the wax then you will not bruise. If you move or do not stretch the skin with our therapist while we are trying to wax you then this can cause bruising. In very few cases, when someone has hyper-sensitive skin, they can go very red on the area that has been waxed but we will use the correct products to cool the skin and keep irritation to a minimum.

  • How can I prevent being so embarrassed?
Just meet us! It’s natural to feel slightly embarrassed at the thought of dropping your pants for a stranger, you just need to remember we are PROFESSIONALS. We see more bodies than the average person would care to think about. We are only looking at the hair that is to be removed, then removing it. Just like Doctors/Nurses, it’s just part of the job.

  • I have been waxed before and had a bad experience, how will you be different?
This is very common for our clients. Many have come to us after a bad experience and not one has felt the need to go anywhere else after finding us. We are constantly training to better our skill. Each waxer receives ongoing training to ensure they do not pick up ANY bad habits whatsoever.

  • Will I bleed?
At times you will notice little blood spotting on the skin, this means the hair has been pulled out properly from the root. They will not continue to bleed after your treatment.

  • Can I call you with more questions?
You can call or email us as many times as you like with as many questions as you like. No question is ever a silly question. We are always looking to help you understand and feel 100% comfortable with your visit to Beautique and if that means answering 50 questions prior to you booking, so be it!
